Zoo animals welcome recycled Christmas trees

Don’t know what to do with your leftover Christmas tree? Why not donate it to a zoo?

The animals at the Claws 'n Paws Wild Animal Park in the US state of Pennsylvania are happy to accept recycled trees.

They use them as back scratchers, hidey-holes and even a little snack.

"Nobody ever knows what to do with their trees once Christmas is over, besides throw them down the hill or on the side of the road for someone else to pick up," says Head Zookeeper Pamela Zoglino. "So, we ask them to bring them to the zoo because it may be an old tree to you, but it's a new tree to the animals."

So far this year, the zoo has received about a dozen donated trees.
